Malaysia’s Minutes to Midnight: A Non-Profit Project

I am not anti government. I do not hate one specific leader. It’s the leader of all these people that I hate. What people, you might ask? The ones who dare to risk racially instigated violences in the name of false justice. The ones with no regard to the sensitivities of another race. The ones who call themselves the “lords of the land”, and yet do not potray even the slightest values of compassion, patience and tolerance associated with one being a “lord”. It is the leader of all these senseless bastards that I hate.

Is it too much to ask of a governemnt official whose country boasts of mutual respect? Is this really Malaysia? Isn’t Malaysia for all to live and prosper? Where each race is bestowed equal treatment and their culture and beliefs respected? I want the concept of a Malaysian Malaysia to become a reality, which does not differ much from the concept of the shady Bangsa Malaysia.

Is it just about the locals trying to show the world that we’re a country which its multi-racial citizens pretend to live in harmony but our unity ties are rotten to the core? Come to think of it, racial relations are at their worst. Transparency in government policies have decreased. Corruption and crime rates increased. And yet some people are still disillusionized.

The incident yesterday marks the commencement of project MM2M, which is the abbreviation for Malaysia’s Minutes to Midnight. Project MM2M is a project conceived after discussion made with my partner-in-crime (hypothetically, of course), Redgrave.

As some of you might or might not know, Minutes to Midnight or Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clockface maintained since 1947 by the Board of Directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. It uses the analogy of the human race being at a time that is “minutes to midnight” where midnight represents “catastrophic destruction from a full scale nuclear war” To read more about it, please click here, and to read the current clock timeline, click here.

Malaysia’s Midnutes to Midnight however, is the countdown to our country’s demise. The senseless killings, the injustice, the lies, the corruption will be uncovered and listed to as how near our country’s clock is to strike 12. This project is a collaboration bewteen me and Redgrave. Our aim is to sketch out our own timeline, based on how much time is left for midnight to strike, with regards to major occurences in Malaysia dating back from 1957 to the current era.

Hypothetically, the following events will be used as a marker for the clock striking 12: midnight.

  • The end of racial harmony, with the possible repeat of the May 13 incident
  • Government corruption reigns at its worst.
  • The collapse of a fair and independent judiciary system.
  • The fall of education standards.
  • Excessive spending and mismanagement of government funds.
  • The total disregard of rights of citizens of a minority race
  • The abolishment of free press, and a total crackdown of alternative media (eg: bloggers)

MM2M’s core function will be to educate the public regarding our country’s hideous, veiled affairs which are not highlighted in major newspapers and hopefully will wake many Malaysian’s from their dream that Malaysia is still a “la-la land”.

Those of you who are interested in joining this (side-) project, please comment on this post and be sure to include ur email in the form, and we would gladly contact you with details. Or you could either email to mm2m@kavilan.com with your name and preferred contact email. We need educated minds, regardless of race and religion, to be a part of this project. As long as you consider yourself as a Malaysian with a vision for a bright future, we implore you to lend a hand.

We hope this wouldn’t be just another fruitless reach for the stars. At least this project wouldn’t cost us nearly a billion ringgit AND we don’t need to purchase a dozen F-18 Raptor jets. Let’s unite.
