A Look Back At My Very Own 2007
Well, 2007 is ending. And I’m back recollecting another year on God’s green (and hazy) earth. I went to Pangkor for a reunion of my 2002 foundation studies class and a company trip to Port Dickson on my birthday. I started my blog site. I earned money online. I rejoiced at a reunion with my friends in Sungai Petani. And I ate A LOT of good food. Now, surely, many people have started analysing themselves on their progress for the past year. Well, I have done that too. When I look back at the beginning of 2007, I made only 5 resolutions. So, let’s see how I fared, shall we?
Resolution Number 1
Get A Job Within 3 Months of Graduation, Kavi!!!
Well, let’s see… I unofficially completed my degree course after my Industrial Training presentation on December 6th 2006, so I had till March 6th, 2007 to get my 1st job. This was a successful endeavour, though I barely managed to scrape through. The market for fresh graduates specialising in PHP was a tad too small, I guess, as most of my interviewers wanted some experienced guys working on some project which is devilishly urgent. Luckily, I landed my current job right in the backyard of Klang town, on the end of February, and started my 1st (sleepy) day on the 5th of March, 2007.
Resolution Number 2
Kavi, Why Don’t You Buy A Car and Say Bye-Bye to Public Transportation?!
I needed to get me a job 1st before I did this, and luckily, the job came in at just the right moment. I got me a used Iswara 1.3 Manual with very low mileage at a good price, previously owned by a lady. Though my dad helped me with the downpayment, I still am proud to own a car which I AM PAYING FOR!!! Another mission accomplished by the end of March.
Resolution Number 3
Hey Kavi, Why Not Lose Some of Those Unsightly Flabs?!
The resolution that everyone dreads. This resolution usually gets forgotten by the end of January every year. I was no different. After the initial weight gain (AGAIN!!!), I started a strict diet after I started working. I reduced my rice intake drastically since I couldn’t find a decent fitness center in Klang. And lo and behold, I was beginning to feel some slack in my jeans. That little amount was still very significant for a large man like me. Then came Deepavali and ruined all my discipline for the past 6 months or so. I gained back the little weight that I lost, and gained more. And here I am. Back at square one. Just like all the previous years of my life. A big KAPUT! for this resolution.
Resolution Number 4
Kavi, Will Ya Go Meet New People, Socialize More, And Move On From Your University Days/Daze?!
Till now, I am still stuck on my past life. 4 years of great XP with great friends. Well, this resolution was kinda like a 50-50 for me. I did meet new people and some of those people think I rock! But those new acquaintances are merely from a digital perspective since they’re all bloggers. My socialiazing was totally limited with my friends back from uni who come down for holidays and a few activities with my colleagues (all of whom who have different tastes with me). So, I’d consider this resolution half-done.
Resolution Number 5
Do Something That You’d Never Think You’d Do, Kavi, and Be Awestruck!!!
I WAS awestruck! I registered a website, started a blog on a subdomain, and earned some great contacts online and not to mention some good money. I am happy to be a part of a group that want’s to be involved in some improvement for the community, and I am glad to have the respect of my fellow bloggers. I also learned a great bunch of stuff from many people. Another thing I did is play an online game! I remember promising to myself that I will not fall into the traps of massive multiplayer onlime games, since hardcore Half-Life fans don;t need such games to be entertained. But since a colleage introduced me to Lineage 2 about 2weeks earlier, I’m having loads of fun!!! Well, what can you expect from a computer guy?!!!
So, in all fairness, the score is 3.5 out of 5. Pretty decent, I’d say, but with room for lot’s of improvement. Surely, this was a year to remember. Here’s to the new year, my friends, fellow bloggers, and respected readers! It’s been great!
