Must Watch 2008 Summer Movies
I’m a big movie buff. When the summer releases from Hollywood hit the Malaysian cinemas, you can be sure of me being there. I do also go watch Tamil movies, but they don’t exactly come out following the 4 seasons.
So, next month, May is the beginning of the summer releases. And what does a movie buff like me do? I compiled a list of must-watch movies, for both good AND bad reasons all the same. Last year’s summer movies were all about sequels. Spidey 3 (aiyo… too much love drama, and too little Venom), Pirates 3 (well, Orlando Bloom was getting on my nerves), Shrek 3 (why oh why?!), Ocean’s Thirteen (give it up, Clooney), Fantastic Four 2 (yawn, except for Ms. Alba), Die Hard 4.0 (won’t Bruce Willis die?), Harry Potter 5 (David Yates, will ya just follow the book please?), and Bourne 3 (well, it was kinda good actually). Some of the other great movies were Transformers (yeah baby yeah!!) and The Simpsons (can I ever say no to Homer?).
Movie Synopses Part 1
Ever go to the theater and come out thinking, “What the fuck did I just watch???!!!”?
Some movies are so unbelievably fast-paced, or incredibly more boring than watching fungus grow on a big pile of steaming turd. That’s why moviegoers fail to understand the concept of the story. So here I am, trying to provide everyone with a great community service. I’m gonna give you guys ultra-condensed synopses of many of the movies that resonate in our memories till today.
So, here’s a list od some movies that came into my mind. The title’s on first, with the synopsis coming up next.
I’ve Bought 4 Books; It’s Back To Reading Days
After work yesterday, I headed to the Bandar Baru Jusco in Klang. It was on my way back from work, and my initial plan to go there was to get my dad his birthday present. Once up there, I was drawn to the bookstore over there. Yep. Popular Bookstore. Not a big branch, I’d say, coz they didn’t have some books I was looking for. But at least they accepted Mastercard.
Now, I’ve stopped reading for more than 2 years now. Ever since I started doing my final year project back in uni, I stopped reading books unrelated to my studies. I’m a big fan of Grisham, Clancy and Archer. That’s Jeffrey Archer, mind you. I also love literary classics, and also a bit of “life’s lessons” books. Not to forget Tolkien and Twain. And here’s the biggest piece of news: I NEVER EVER bought any books myself. Everything was borrowed (sometimes permanently). So it’s a great thing that I’ve now bought my own books for my own personal collection.
Is This How A Great Day Supposed To Be???
Aaahhh… It was a great morning. Im sure the whole day is gonna be fine too. I woke up 5 minutes before the alarm rang. Sweet, I thought. Steadily, I walked to my PC and flicked on the monitor and discovered that all my downloads were completed. With a smirk, I checked on Soccernet and was overjoyed to find out that Manchester United had won and are moving on to the UCL semis. Damn… The day couldn’t have started better.
After a great hot bath, I put on my favourite shirt, all ironed crisp. Tucked it in, styled my hair, put on my tag, grabbed the car keys and said goodbye to mom. I felt good about the day; the sun was fresh and the air smelled great at 7.45 am. As I stopped at a stall to get my nasi lemak, my eye I cought the eyes of another SYT heading towards the same stall. I smiled, and she smiled back. Got my nasi lemak, said “Hello” to the beautiful girl, and then I got back into the car to head to work. I swear to you, it just sounds like the movies. Even I felt like that. Look out Brad Pitt!

Dasavathaaram - A Collection of Trailers, Images and News
I just can’t wait any longer! The wait is killing. Ever since Kamalhaasan announced his mega-project, Dasavathaaram, back in 2005, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
Dasavathaaram is a movie where Kamal will play 10 different characters. Not 10 different appearences, but 10 different characters, surpassing Sir Alec Guinness’s record of 8 characters in Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), or more accurately the late Sivaji Ganesan’s record of 9 characters in Navarathiri (1964). The story is kept tightly under wraps, but some statements from the movie’s tech team point out that the movie has tie-ins of science and religion.
