Manchester United: European Champions 2007/08
What a nail biting match it was! And I was actually biting my nails off one by one along the whole build-up to one of the greatest UEFA Champions League Final matches that was ever played on European soil. Manchester United vs Chelsea 2008 will go down in the annals of history as one of the most intriguing matches ever played in a European cup final, alongside the miracle in Istanbul by Liverpool in 2005 and the last gasp goals in Barcelona by Manchester United (again) in 1999.

Drama! Thrills! Excitement!
The first half was dominated by the Devils, and the Holy Trinity of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez were trying to penetrate Chelsea’s defence in a bullish manner. Ronny’s header midway thru the 1st half gave United the lead, though Lampard equalised out of sheer luch on the brink of half-time when the ball was deflected twice by United’s men, one of them was off the back of Ferdinand.
The second half was a bit boring, especially when Chelsea were dominating. When the match ended 1-1, it went to extra-time. Each team was giving their best, and shots were flying off here and there. A message to all Chelsea fans: Don’t argue by saying that you hit the post twice, and you deserved to win. The ball didn’t go in. PERIOD. Stop whining.
Didier “Dog-bah” Drogba was sent off towards the end of ET for slapping Nemanja Vidic. How dumb can you get to do that in front of the referee???? Chelsea really, and I mean REALLY, need to learn how to respect match officials. Neways, who cares?!
The penalty shootout came. It seemed that all was over when Ronny missed is penalty, or more accurately, his penalty was saved. But then ex-England captain John “Teary” Terry slipped, and sent his shot wide to hit the post. A few kicks later, Van Der Sar stepped up to face Anelka. Anelka shot, VDS saved!!!! Goddamnit! I was practically shouting for victory like a madman!
Finally, after 9 years, the Champions League trophy is back to Old Trafford, and as a Devils fan, I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.
