Help Needed: Info on Klang Caterers and Restaurants

It’s time that I request the help of my online friends (that’s you, my dear reader(s)). I need some information of food. In KLANG.

Here’s the gist of it. This December, my parents are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. And I’m planning to have a family gathering at that time; some sort of a dinner ceremony to mark the day. Guests will be my immediate family and close friends of my parents. So the number is not likely to exceed 50 pax, so the logical thing to do is to prepare a meal for 50 pax. I can only afford a budget of RM 1000 for now, and the lesser it is, the happier I am.

Now, my problem is that I’m more of a techie, who looks for information online and then does the follow-up by telephone. And I’m no typical guy either, who settles for the regular fare. So I’m humbly requesting for your help in suggestions and ideas based on the two possibilites below.

There are two possibilites here. First one being that I have the function at home, with a canopy erected (corner house, quite some space available) and caterers putting up a buffet line. In that case, I gotta settle for Indian food, as I gotta make sure the, errr, “old” guests are satisfied. Thus, I gotta go find for a canopy provider and a caterer to supply me with what I need.

Second possibility is having the function at some restaurant. Not too fancy, just a simple one which provides in-house functions. I’m quite open about the food selection here, be it Indian, Chinese, Malay, Nyonya, Western or Orang Asli. Just no beef and pork. This selection would spare me the headache of looking for a canopy service and also make my life much, much, much easier in terms of organizing the whole schbang AND the big problem of cleaning up after.

So, if any of you guys do know about such caterers or restaurants around Klang (priotity) or Shah Alam, I’d be happy to take in your suggestions.
